Jonathan Allen

DL, Alabama

It has already been a fairly eventful offseason for the San Francisco 49ers, as they added a new general manager and head coach. Newly minted GM John Lynch was a star defensive player in this league, and it is likely his first draft pick will be on the defensive side of the ball. Jonathan Allen is as good a prospect as there is in this draft, and he would become a nice building block for the future of the 49ers.

Once upon a time, the 49ers were one of the class franchises in the NFL, and the hope is Lynch and new head coach Kyle Shanahan can bring that back. Shanahan is coming off a season where he led the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl due to his incredible work with the offense, and he will certainly have his work cut out for him in his first taste as an NFL head coach. Bringing in a player like Allen would enable the 49ers to seriously bolster their defensive line, giving them one of the more versatile defensive lineman in this draft.

Allen can play all over the defensive line, and is very good at getting after the quarterback. He is also a run stopper, who has the size and strength to move offensive lineman back with ease. At the next level, Allen should step right in and be an impact player, and for the 49ers, it is time they start stacking young talent on their roster.
