4. Miami Dolphins

Timmons, a graduate of Florida State University could find his way back to the sunshine state. Miami has some major issues in the middle of their defense. Their linebacker play is a bit soft, and injuries and lack of depth became the team’s undoing this offseason. They are also a young team that showed playoff inexperience in their early exit last season.

Timmons would be a perfect addition to bring in some experience, depth, and toughness. Kiko Alonso is a free agent, but if they can re-sign him, and afford Timmons it would be the perfect combination of linebackers in the middle. Alonso is a rangy linebacker who can defend in coverage, while Timmons is a downhill force against the run.

Timmons would have the chance to go back to the state of Florida, play a role that suits his best qualities and would be playing for a team that recently made the playoffs. For the Dolphins, they get a veteran presence, a perfect fit to play next to Alonso, and could give him a salary that saves them enough cap space to continue to make other moves in free agency. It could be the best of both worlds for the two parties.
