1. Quarterback

Of course, the only position more valuable than the one that protects the quarterback is the quarterback. Despite drafting three in the past four years, the Jets currently do not have one that they can hang their hat on. Ryan Fitzpatrick is on the books, but let’s get real, they cannot go into another season with him as their top signal caller. Geno Smith tore his ACL, is a free agent and has likely grown tired of dealing with the organization, he won’t be back. ‘

Christian Hackenberg spent his season taking mental reps, and appears to still be a year or two away from being taken seriously as any kind of option. That leaves Bryce Petty, who did not look bad but has had injury issues in college, and in the NFL now. In a perfect world would be a good backup to have.

On the market, the pickings are a bit slim. There are the remote chances of Carson Palmer or Tony Romo being available and open to playing for the Jets. Then there is the chance we see part three of Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall. However, Marshall is not a lock on the team, so who could say Cutler is a real option? Then there is the draft.

Chances are if they want a guy in this class, it has to be at pick six. That leaves Deshaun Watson, Mitch Trubisky and DeShone Kizer as the legitimate options. It seems like the best idea for the team to address the position, and other than safety is the biggest need with a player whose value could in line with the pick as well. The Jets should take the plunge and invest in a quarterback, and now the question becomes which one is their preference?
