Though pop culture continues to be its focus, Loot Crate is bringing the same curated monthly experience to sports fans next.

As a company that now has been around for almost five years, Loot Crate continues to evolve. It’s getting into the manufacturing business now, as the company’s booth at Toy Fair was partially to show off the exclusive WWE and Halo toys it is making for its own boxes.

Yet there was another product that Loot Crate was just as proud to announce, even if it’s not quite ready to show it off to the world yet. Baseball fans will soon be able to sign up for the very first Sports Crate service, as Loot Crate will be the official subscription box service for Major League Baseball, with products licensed by both MLB and MLBPA.

Loot Crate Head of Corporate Communications Erik Reynolds told FanSided that the MLB Sports Crate will be team-specific, beginning with the following 10 teams:

  • New York Yankees
  • New York Mets
  • Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Boston Red Sox
  • Chicago Cubs
  • Texas Rangers
  • Detroit Tigers
  • Kansas City Royals
  • St. Louis Cardinals
  • San Francisco Giants

Each box will contain an exclusive of some sort, beginning with an exclusive figure of one of the teams’ starting pitchers in the first crate. The remainder of the items will be the same kind of carefully curated experience for which Loot Crate is known.

More info on Sports Crate should be coming in early March, so sign-ups for the service are expected in a matter of weeks, not months. And fans of other teams (this writer asked about his beloved Astros) shouldn’t fret. They’ll be able to register their interest in Sport Crate so that Loot Crate can decide which teams to expand to next based on where there’s the most demand.

It’s at once a natural extension of what Loot Crate does well and a leap into the unknown at the same time, with Reynolds mentioning that it essentially doubles the company’s product lines in one fell swoop. We’ll update with more info when it becomes available, but curious baseball fans can find out what Loot Crate is all about by hitting up the official site in the meantime and checking out its existing product lines.
