Riley Reiff: 5 best fits in NFL free agency
4. New York Giants
The Jets are not the only team in New York with issues at tackle. The New York Giants are right behind them, and the tackle position is one of the major reasons this team did not take any step forward in the playoffs this season.
Marshall Newhouse was injured most of the last season and is a free agent. It does not appear that he will be back at right tackle next year. Bobby Hart and Ereck Flowers will be back, but the question is what do the Giants have in either of these two guys.
Hart is a depth piece and backup lineman when it comes down to it, and it showed when Newhouse went down. Flowers is an interesting case. He, like Reiff, is a former first round pick. However, also like Reiff, he has struggled in his time on the left side. Still, due to his pedigree, and having only played for two seasons in the NFL, there is a good chance that the Giants will give him one more go on the left side in 2017.
Still, Reiff as a right tackle would be an upgrade over Hart without a doubt. He has that experience at left tackle so if Flowers were to truly blow up, or get hurt, they are not completely wiped clean on that side. The Giants then can draft in the middle or later rounds for some depth on either side and at the worst, their tackle situation would be a slight upgrade from the year before.
