2017 NFL Mock Draft: Clemson stars dominate
By Brad Weiss
The Chargers made a small move this offseason, moving from San Diego to Los Angeles for the 2017 season and beyond. While team owner Dean Spanos did everything in his power to keep the team in San Diego, a deal for a new stadium just could not get done, and now Los Angeles will have two football teams next season. The Rams are a long way away, but the Chargers have the talent to win now.
Ever since Eric Weddle left for Baltimore, the Chargers safety position has been a joke. However, this draft class is loaded with players who are going to make an impact in the defensive secondary, and Malik Hooker is right behind Jamal Adams as being the best safety in this draft. Los Angeles needs help back there, and Hooker has the tools to come right in and make a serious impact during his rookie season.
Hooker was a staple on one of the best defensive teams in all of college football, and he is one of the more NFL-ready players in his draft. The Chargers need to bring in players who are going to put butts in the seats, and Hooker has that kind of big-play ability. Los Angeles lost some heartbreakers last season, mostly due to shoddy defense, so it is imperative that they spend this high draft pick on defense come April.
