Boston Celtics

Sending out: Tyler Zeller (LAC), Jonas Jerebko (BOS), 2017 second round pick (MEM)

Bringing in: Andrew Bogut (DAL)

The window for the Boston Celtics is open right now but not particularly wide. If they can’t land a star at the trade deadline then a big man to help them on the glass and defending the paint is the next best thing. This may not get them much closer to Cleveland but every little bit is important, especially if the Cavaliers were to catch and injury or some other piece of bad luck.

The draft pick is nothing from the Celtics war chest, and although they’ll miss Jerebko’s shooting his role will likely be minimized as the playoffs begin and rotations shorten. Zeller is superfluous as well. In return for moving pieces they don’t really need, the Celtics get a big that addresses some of their interior weaknesses.

Bogut has been injured much of this season and likely shouldn’t be counted on for more than situational duty in the playoffs. However, having that ability to go big against certain lineups could be a huge key. Bogut is still a very good rim protector, an excellent rebounder, and a savvy enough passer that his lack of shooting shouldn’t gum up the works too badly for the Celtics when he’s on the floor.
