Houston Texans: 5 offseason needs
2. Right Tackle
The offensive line had injuries at most positions and took a bit of a step back from the dominant unit it typically is. Derek Newton took the worst of the injuries and tore both patellar tendons. He missed ten games, and as he approaches his age 30 season, with such a gruesome injury there is a legitimate question as to whether or not he will play again, let alone the question as to what level he can play at.
If the Texans are looking to reassemble their offensive line and bring it back into prominance, the first place to look would be a right tackle. Ricky Wagner seems to be on the prized tackles in free agency this year. While he may cost a bit, if they are to get some relief from Newton, and were to move on from a guy like Cushing, the money could be there to work.
This also brings to play a question at pick 25. This does not appear to be a top-heavy class for the offensive lineman, and the best tackle on the board may be there at 25. If the Texans wanted, they could grab their guy right then and there, have a young stud on the cheap, and address the depth with some cheaper free agent options. Nonetheless, they will address the position, the question is just when.
