Indianapolis Colts: 5 offseason needs
2. Running back
Robert Turbin and Jordan Todman are both set to be free agents this offseason. Both could be retained, but both are depth options and special team contributors at best. Frank Gore is still the starter of this group, but he is now 33 years old. Retirement rumors have come up with his name, and he only has one season left on his contract. Josh Ferguson was drafted last season, but nothing in his rookie season showed that he can take a step forward in 2017.
With that said, this team needs to build up some talent at running back. A lot of mock drafts have recently placed Dalvin Cook into the Colts 14th-overall pick, and it is not a bad idea. Cook likely has the lowest floor of any runner in the class and can be used in a variety of ways. He can split time with Gore, learn from a potential Hall of Famer, and take over in 2018 with a built up offensive line.
If they go another way in round one, round two will see talent at running back. This is a great running back class, and the Colts have such a need they may end up double dipping with an early and late pick in the draft.
