1. Figure out the QB position

While Alex Smith is a very good regular season quarterback, he just has not been able to find a way to win the big games. In fact, you could make the argument that the Chiefs are never going to get over the hump as long as he is their starting quarterback. Still, he is going to win his fair share of games, but it will be up the Chiefs to figure out if he is going to be the answer at the position for the next few years.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chiefs will be picking at No. 27, but there may be a future star quarterback available. While players like DeShone Kizer and Deshaun Watson have gotten a ton of publicity, Patrick Mahomes II has quietly been moving up the draft boards. He has a legitimate shot to be a very good player at the next level, and there is a real chance he could be available to the Chiefs when they pick late in the first round.

Another name that has been thrown around as of late is Tony Romo, who would instantly improve the Chiefs at the quarterback position. While Romo has been injury prone during his career, he does have the ability to stretch the field, but like Smith, has never won the big game. The quarterback position is going to be a big question mark as the Chiefs get ready to repeat in the AFC West, and while Smith gives them a great chance to do so, he does not give them a great chance to get past the Divisional Round.
