Jonathan Isaac

SF/PF, Florida St.

The Orlando Magic have offloaded Serge Ibaka and are still trying to figure out what their identity will be as they rebuild with the goal of becoming a playoff contender.

Florida State’s Jonathan Isaac offers a nice combo forward piece who could slot in at the three in lineups with Aaron Gordon. On offense, Isaac is a decent ball mover with the potential to be really skilled. So far he has been a 36.6 3-point shooter from the college 3-point line while shooting 80.4 percent from the foul line. At worst, he should be a 7-foot floor stretcher. What’s intriguing about Isaac, though, is his potential to develop into a more well-rounded offensive piece if he’s able to add more of a game off the bounce or in the post.

Defensively, he should be a multi-positional defender because of his length. Like most young prospects, he still needs to add strength to his frame in order to battle more mature opponents. Like many of the best defenders in this class, Isaac has an impact on the box score. This season, he’s averaging 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per 40 minutes.

Isaac seems like a really high floor prospect who could develop into much more if he adds a better offensive game. That would be a welcome add in Orlando.
