Ron Leary: 5 best fits in NFL free agency
2. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts number one offseason mission has to be to find a way to keep Andrew Luck healthy. When looking at their offensive line, they seem to have three pieces that can stick and grow as a unit with. They have their first round pick at center, Ryan Kelly. They also have Jack Mewhort and Anthony Castonzo and can hold up and be NFL starters, Castonzo plays left tackle, and Mewhort is at left guard.
While the left side is stable, the right side may as well have cardboard cutouts for the type of production they are getting from that unit. Jonotthan Harrison and Denzell Goode have struggled, to say the least. Harrison graded out at 71st at his position and Goode finished 67th according to the PFF grading. It has not been pretty, and it needs to be addressed immediately. Leary would be a perfect fit on the offensive line at right guard.
With Leary, you are throwing in a veteran, but a player who is still young enough to gel with the pieces that are already in place. He could likely ease in faster than any rookie option and would be a quick fix to give the line a boost of stability and potential continuity that the unit can move forward with. It is a major necessity, and Leary should be the first place the Colts look this spring.
