2017 NFL Combine: 10 Players to Watch
By John Buhler
The 2017 NFL Draft looks to be one of the better running backs classes in quite some time. Though the position has been devalued for much of the last decade, it is starting make a bit of an uptick thanks to a few players hitting in the first round.
This year, there are two running backs that will be going in the first round: Florida State’s Dalvin Cook and LSU’s Leonard Fournette. Cook is going to be a special player, but look for Fournette to make people’s jaws drop at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.
Fournette is a physical and powerful runner with a great top-end speed. He’s at his best when he is trucking linebackers while running off tackle. If Fournette can put together a staggering 40-yard dash time, he could be the No. 8 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers. Carolina does need a bell-cow back.
Fournette will be one of the more impressive specimens attending the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. He’ll likely dominate in a few of the events. What will be key to ensure that he will be a top-10 pick will be how he handles the interview process. Given that Fournette is a well-spoken, conscientious interviewer, expect him to be a candidate for essentially combine MVP.
