2017 NFL Combine: 10 Players to Watch
By John Buhler
There is a very small handful of players that could go No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns. Pretty much, two guys are in that handful. The quarterback in that discussion is North Carolina Tar Heels junior signal caller Mitch Trubisky.
While Trubisky only started one season at North Carolina, he did show enough to NFL scouts to prove that he is worthy of a first round pick. The combination of arm talent, accuracy, and playing in a pro-style offense is a plus. Inconsistency in the pocket and not being a starter until his redshirt junior season are concerns.
Overall, Trubsky may be the most scrutinized player at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. He has a lot riding on being at least 6’2″. Some speculate that Trubisky is only 6’1″, which would hurt his draft stock considerably.
If height does become an issues, then Trubisky is going to have to nail his combine to ensure that he will end up being the No. 1 quarterback taken this spring. The best thing he has going for him is that he has a clear NFL prototype. Trubisky falls into that Blake Bortles/Andrew Luck/Carson Wentz prototype. Hopefully that helps Trubisky on his quest to becoming a millionaire.
