13. Joe Flacco – $114,800,000
Joe Flacco took a chance on himself, and it paid off in a big way. Flacco was the 18th overall selection of the 2008 NFL Draft, as the Baltimore Ravens selected the big-time arm from the University of Delaware. Nine years later, Flacco has led his organization to a Super Bowl title, and he is certain to go down in history as one of the best players to ever play the quarterback position for Baltimore.
Flacco’s entry level contract was a five-year, $30 million deal, and he led the Ravens to an 11-5 record during his rookie season. In 2013, Flacco signed a big extension with Baltimore, as the team rewarded him with a six-year, $120.6 million deal. Of that $120.6 million, $29 million was guaranteed, and in 2016, he signed another extension with the team. That deal will bring him to the 2021 NFL season and will include another $66.4 million dollars with $44 million guaranteed.
The MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Flacco has been a quiet warrior for the Ravens throughout his career. He has been one of the more steady arms in the league, and has missed only six starts during his nine-year career. The Ravens and Flacco have been a perfect marriage, and if the team can put some talent around him, they could be right in the mix for a playoff spot in 2017. Flacco and company have not been in the playoffs since 2014, but with his talent, that will likely change soon.
