9. Matt Ryan – $133,707,925

The 2016 NFL season was a special one to say the least for Matt Ryan, who shook off his tag of not being able to win the big game. “Matty Ice” led the Atlanta Falcons to Super Bowl LI, and in the process, picked up his first NFL Most Valuable Player Award. The Falcons are in very good shape to be a contender once again in 2017, and Ryan looks to just be coming into his prime as the team’s starting quarterback.

The Falcons selected Ryan with the third overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, selecting the former Boston College Eagle. His first contract with the team was a six-year,$67.5 million deal which included $34.75 million of guaranteed money. In 2013, Ryan would sign a contract extension for over $100 million, as the team locked him up until 2019 NFL season. At that time, Ryan will only be 33 years old, and with the weakness at the quarterback position in the NFL, he may be in for another pay day.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Ryan was not only the NFL’s Most Valuable Player last season, but also the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Ryan threw for nearly 5,000 yards on the season, finishing the year with an incredible quarterback rating of 117.1 The 2008 NFL Rookie of the Year, Ryan has been as solid as they come throughout his career, and he may just be beginning to reach his potential for a Falcons organization that is definitely trending upwards.
