Adrian Peterson: 5 free agency destinations
By John Buhler
Are the Denver Broncos serious contenders for the Super Bowl in 2017? They are not a top-tier team to get to Indianapolis, but the Broncos are closer to contention in the AFC than the Colts. While the Broncos have issues on offense, they should be stout defensively again next season.
The Broncos need a major overhaul on offense. Bringing back in former offensive coordinator Mike McCoy should help rookie head coach Vance Joseph in that endeavor. However, does he have the necessary pieces in place to win on the offensive side of the ball this year?
Unless the Broncos land a Tony Romo in a trade/free agency or see a major progression forward from either Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch, the Broncos will probably struggle mightily in the passing game. The best course of action to get the offense going is in the ground game.
C.J. Anderson is a solid starting running back, but he can’t do it alone. Adding Peterson in free agency on a one-year deal could be mutually beneficial for all parties. Anderson will get better, the Broncos wouldn’t skip a beat with Peterson backing him up, and Peterson might finally get to play in a Super Bowl should the Broncos put it all together under Joseph.
