Adrian Peterson: 5 free agency destinations

Do the Dallas Cowboys need Peterson? Not really, as they already have a stud at running back in Ezekiel Elliott. However, this is the Cowboys we’re talking about and Peterson would sure love to play for his home state’s cornerstone football franchise.
Signing Peterson would signify that owner Jerry Jones would have to part ways with his fellow Hog in Darren McFadden. Though their NFL career paths were totally different, McFadden and Peterson were similar running back prototypes coming out of college.
Peterson has proven to be the more consistent of the two tailbacks by a wide margin. Health played a big part in this, but so did football culture. How good would Peterson have been if he wasted his prime for the Al Davis Oakland Raiders like McFadden did?

Though Dallas has no cap space, Jones will probably feel compelled to make a big name splash in free agency this spring, especially after having to part ways with former franchise quarterback Romo. Elliott can handle all the work by himself, but why would he not embrace being backed up by an all-timer in Peterson. For Peterson, why would he not want to play on a Super Bowl contender for the Cowboys?
