Ronald Leary

Guard, Dallas Cowboys

Let’s just say the Packers are going to do the unthinkable and actually join the party that is unrestricted free agency. The introverted Green Bay front office might be able to find a player or two that can help them get to another Super Bowl in 2017.

One player that they absolutely need to take a hard look at is Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Ronald Leary. Green Bay had a top-five offensive line last year, even after letting Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton go.

Tackle David Bakhtiari and guard T.J. Lang were stellar up front for the Packers when they almost ran the table. Bakhtiari is under contract in Green Bay through the 2020 NFL season. Lang is coming off his first Pro Bowl season and will be a free agent.

Should the Packers be unable to retain Lang, a great player to fill his role would be Leary. While Dallas has undoubtedly the best offensive line in football, Leary is likely going to be the odd man out when it comes to getting paid Dallas.

Add in that the Cowboys are in the worst cap position of any team in football and they could end up losing Leary this spring. Green Bay has the resources to pay Leary handsomely if Thompson feels so inclined.
