2017 NFL Mock Draft: Bears tap Deshaun Watson
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins were not expected to make the playoffs in 2016, as they were employing a new head coach. Adam Gase was in his first season as an NFL head coach, and you always have to expect some growing pains from that position. The exact opposite happened, and Gase brought the kind of winning attitude the Dolphins have been missing for quite some time.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had his best season as a pro, and while his year did end in injury, he seems to be the right guy for the job moving forward. Jarvis Landry is a standout wide receiver, and running back Jay Ajayi emerged as one of the best in the AFC. The offense looks to be in good shape, which means the organization needs to focus on the defense when they selected at No. 22 in April.
One area where the team needs help is along the defensive line, and they should look to bring in someone at defensive end. Veteran Mario Williams will not be returning next season, and Cameron Wake could certainly use some help on the other side. The front still has Ndamukong Suh, so one more talented end could be just what the team needs to be dominant up front in 2017. Taco Charlton proved during his time at Michigan that he can be an explosive player, and his skill set would fit nicely down in South Beach.
