Marlon Humphrey

CB, Alabama

The Oakland Raiders are definitely a team that is trending in the right direction after winning 12 games during the 2016 season. While many believed the Raiders could make a run at the Super Bowl, that all ended when quarterback Derek Carr broke his leg in Week 16. Oakland would go on  to lose their first playoff appearance since 2002, but the pieces are in place for this team to be good for a very long time.

While the offense had no problems moving the ball last season, it was the defense that could not hold up their end of the bargain. On far too many occasions the secondary was beaten badly by the opposition, leading to a bunch of big plays. The Raiders need to continue to bolster the depth at the cornerback position, and bringing in Marlon Humphrey from Alabama would be a wise choice at No. 24.

Oakland brought in Sean Smith from Kansas City to start on one side of the field last season, but even he could not help the team’s woes against the pass. Smith was supposed to team with David Amerson to be one of the better cornerback tandems in the AFC, but that certainly did not work out. Humphrey would be a serious upgrade over guys like Amerson and D.J. Hayden, who the team expects to let go after another bad season.
