2017 NFL Mock Draft: Bears tap Deshaun Watson
By Brad Weiss
Incredibly, the Houston Texans made it all the way to the Divisional Round in 2016. The Texans lost star defensive end J.J. Watt early in the season, but it really did not matter much. By the time the regular season was over, the Texans were the top-ranked defense in the league, and were able to lead the Texans to the AFC South title despite the fact they got nothing from their high-priced free agent quarterback.
The Texans brought in Brock Osweiler to be the team’s future at the quarterback position, and boy did they waste a ton of money on him. The team signed him to a four-year, $72 million contract, which seemed like way too much money considering he only started a handful of games for the Denver Broncos the year before. Osweiler fizzled, and the team now heads into another offseason with a huge question mark at the quarterback position.
Whether Osweiler starts at quarterback or not next season, the team needs to bring in some more talent on the offensive line. Lamar Miller did a terrific job at running back in his first season with the team, and with their elite defense, the Texans should find themselves back in the playoffs next season. Utah’s Garett Bolles is by far one of the best offensive line prospects in this draft, and judging by his size and strength, he should be able to stay at left tackle at the next level.
