Virginia Cavaliers

Last week: 20-9, 10-7 ACC
Last rank: 7

Virginia ended their losing skid in a big way last week. They ended the four-game streak with domination of the state of North Carolina. First, they took care of NC State easily, winning by 15. After that, they beat on North Carolina, holding them to just 43 points. This came a couple of weeks after Virginia scored just 41 themselves against the Tar Heels. Those wins gave Tony Bennett his sixth straight 20-win season, the longest streak in school history. The incredible consistency displayed by Virginia has been astounding and this season is no exception. They will now look to parlay that into NCAA Tournament success, something they haven’t done as well. They finish their regular season campaign with a relatively meaningless game against Pittsburgh this weekend.

Louisville Cardinals

Last week: 23-6, 11-5 ACC
Last rank: 2

Louisville split their two games last week. The loss to North Carolina was especially big as a win could have vaulted them to the top of the ACC. They followed the disappointment by destroying Syracuse, winning 88-68. The Cardinals have a shot to tie UNC at the top of the ACC if they win out, but that loss would give the Tar Heels the tie breaker. Regardless, Louisville could have a shot at a 1 seed if they win the ACC Tournament. They have games left against Wake Forest and Notre Dame, so winning those will be crucial. After that, all that’s left to do is focus on getting as high a seed possible and winning another title to pair with the one from 2013.
