this second jump from the Blue Devils’ loss against Miami. The Hurricanes are an incredibly athletic team and Giles beats three different guys off the floor for the offensive rebound. At his best, Giles is an excellent athlete who can move well on both ends of the floor. Whether or not he’ll fully recover to be that player — one that can anchor a defense and score in a variety of ways on offense — remains unclear.

For the Brooklyn Nets, the risk is worth it. The Nets acquired this pick from the Washington Wizards as a result of a trade for Bojan Bogdanovic at the deadline. Giles gives the team a chance to hit a home run if he’s able to recover physically. Last season, Brooklyn selected oft-injured Michigan guard Caris LeVert. This year, they may try again with an even higher upside prospect.

Harry Giles

PF/C, Duke

Once upon a time, Duke’s Harry Giles was the top-rated player in the 2017 class and the projected number one pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. A torn ACL during his senior season of high school and a follow-up knee surgery ahead of the 2016-17 college season derailed those hopes as Giles is seemingly yet to shake off the rust following over a year of not playing basketball.

Still, there are glimpses of Giles potential that show up from time to time. For example, there’s this second jump from the Blue Devils’ loss against Miami.
