Philadelphia Eagles

NFC East,

When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Carson Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the expectation was he would sit his rookie season and learn. Well, Wentz learned in the best way during the 2016 season, as he started all 16 games for the Eagles. While he went through the typical rookie plateau, it is clear that he is the team’s franchise quarterback moving forward.

Wentz is a very good young quarterback, and players are starting to think about playing for the Eagles to play with him. The issue with the Eagles offense last season was two-fold, as they had no true running back, and they lacked a WR1 on the outside. Bringing in a player like Charles would not only give them a quality running back, but also another weapon in the passing game.

The NFC East is going to be very competitive next season, as like the AFC West, it could come down to any of the teams within the division. The Eagles cannot afford to take a step backwards next season, and adding Charles to the backfield would be an immediate upgrade at the position. Darren Sproles did a nice job in a pass-catching role out of the backfield last season, but given his size and age, his days of being a reliable running back have to be coming to an end.
