Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas and Phoenix Suns point guard Tyler Elis settled it on the basketball court with the greatest jump ball of all-time.
It’s been an interesting NBA season thus far. The NBA has given us a ton of three-pointers on the court and a ton of drama off the court. However, it has lacked a bit of quirkiness. Robin Lopez isn’t fighting mascots every night and Marcin Gortat can only take so many passes to the face for our enjoyment. We need something else.
Well, we may have gotten that in of all places Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix on Sunday, Mar. 5 in a game between the Boston Celtics and the Phoenix Suns. One could ponder what could possibly be entertaining about an Eastern power and a Western doormat on a Sunday afternoon?

Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas and Suns point guard Tyler Ulis just completed the greatest jump ball in basketball history. It lived up to every expectation you could imagine.
This was an important moment for America. Little boys across the country can dream big and participate in jump balls in the NBA, even if they don’t grow to be over six feet in height. Thomas would win the tip over Ulis, probably because he’s the most fearless competitor not named Russell Westbrook in basketball.

Basketball is fun but needs to embrace these sort of quirky things more. 3-pointers are fun, but 5’9″ dudes competing for a jump ball while near seven-footers watch in astonishment is where it’s at. Today, the jump ball reached its apex. It’s all downhill from here.
