Third Round

75

Evan Engram

Tight End, Ole Miss Rebels

A great way that the Bills can make things easier for new offensive coordinator Rick Dennison is to draft a reliable pass catching tight end in day two. It will help provide stability in the passing game for whomever is playing under center next season in Orchard Park.

Fortunately for Dennison and Bills general manager Doug Whaley, this seems to be the greatest collection of tight end talent ever assembled in a draft. There could be as many as three first-round tight ends taken this spring. However, there are a handful of guys that will pop coming out of the second or third round.

The pick here at No. 75 in the third round has to be Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram. While Ole Miss has not had a great track record of late in terms of offensive playmaking talent translating to the next level, Engram will catch balls at the next level.

He’s not as explosive as Alabama’s O.J. Howard, but Engram was the more consistent pass catcher throughout his college career in the SEC. Engram may have some issues in run blocking, but he could be a 60-catch, 500-yard receiving tight end until his late 20s in the NFL. Taking Engram in the third round is a great value pick for the Bills.
