Arizona Cardinals

NFC, West

Not only backup quarterback gigs would be a bad thing for Glennon in 2017 NFL free agency. Unlike in Pittsburgh where he would have to wait roughly two years to play or in Tampa Bay where he’ll never play, the Arizona Cardinals could be a place where Glennon could push to start right away.

Yes, the Cardinals have a starter in Carson Palmer. However, he seems to be on his last leg as a professional quarterback. The arm talent is still there and probably always will be, but could he rebound one more lower-body injury as a professional athlete? Injury concerns are the biggest holdup with any long-term projection with Palmer. We can all sense the end for him is near.

Though Glennon doesn’t have the arm strength of Palmer, he has the downfield accuracy to run Bruce Arians’ ultra-intricate aerial attack in Arizona. Arians would be getting a younger version of Nick Foles in Glennon with a tad more NFL upside. We’ve never seen Glennon play with a great deal of offensive talent surrounding him.

The Cardinals don’t have a lot of cap space at roughly $19,288,965. They have a ton of needs to address this offseason. Slapping the franchise tag on Chandler Jones will be expensive. Retaining both Calais Campbell and Tony Jefferson will be pricey to the point of almost impossible.

However, Arizona could sell Glennon on the opportunity to start for a playoff contender as late as 2018. If Palmer gets hurt, it’s Glennon time in the Valley of the Sun. Realistically, Arizona might be the only team that can get Glennon to take less to go play quarterback for them in 2017.
