Mike Glennon: 5 best fits in NFL free agency
By John Buhler
Of the four teams Glennon could join and start right away, the Chicago Bears would be the best landing spot for him. The Jets are getting rid of their offensive talent at a rapid pace. Are they tanking in 2017? San Francisco could be favorable, but again, that teams doesn’t have a lot of talent there for Glennon to work with. And Cleveland’s Cleveland.
Choosing to not bring back wide receiver Alshon Jeffery could prove to be problematic for the Bears passing game. However, it’s not like Jeffery hasn’t missed NFL games before for the Bears.
With Chicago, Glennon would get three things immediately. He would inherit a young stud at running back in Jordan Howard, a team with over $54,824,321 to use against the cap this offseason, and a head coach in John Fox that has to win now to keep his job.
Fox isn’t going to get a fourth head coaching opportunity and he can roll with Jay Cutler for another season. Brian Hoyer is a great quarterback until Halloween when he inevitably drops the glass slipper. Chicago could go quarterback at No. 3 in the 2017 NFL Draft, but DeShone Kizer, Mitch Trubisky, and Deshaun Watson aren’t ready to start. Glennon is.

The good about going to the Bears is that it is a low-entry point for Glennon as a starting level quarterback and Chicago has not had a great history of signal callers. Winning six games in 2017 would be a great first year in Chicago for Glennon. The Bears fans might get behind him if he throws for close to 3,500 yards and isn’t Cutler.
