2017 NFL Combine: 10 players who hurt stock
By John Buhler
There are a lot of guys from Michigan that are going to get drafted from Jim Harbaugh’s 2016 team. However, how many of them are truly transformative talents? Tight end Jake Butt could be something, cornerback Jourdan Lewis is interesting, and we don’t know what to make of “STAR?” Jabrill Peppers.
Cornerback Channing Stribling didn’t show much of anything at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. He’s not alone, but there are a lot of Michigan guys in this draft process that are getting too much love for whatever reason.
Stribling had the fourth slowest 40-time at 4.60 and only bench pressed 225 pounds five times, the worst among any player at the combine. He had the fourth-worst vertical at 31.5 inches and the worst broad jump of 114.0 inches among cornerbacks. Even his three-cone of 6.94 seconds wasn’t that good, tied for the sixth-worst among corners at the combine.
Cornerback is a massive position group with guys that can do a ton of different things. Stribling must look good on tape and be a really good football player because his combine largely underwhelmed.
