Lorenzo Jerome

Safety, Saint Francis Red Flash

We’re not mad, just disappointed. Saint Francis Red Flash safety Lorenzo Jerome had such a good Senior Bowl down in Mobile. We were really hoping that would continue into an outstanding combine. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

Safety is the other very deep position besides tight end in this draft class. Jerome got lost in the shuffle and looked like a second-rate player at the combine. Hopefully NFL scouts loved what they saw in Mobile from him because the Indianapolis data doesn’t help his cause as a day two pick.

Jerome had the slowest 40-yard dash (4.70 seconds), the slowest three-cone (7.63 seconds), and the slowest 20-yard shuffle (4.68 seconds). He had the second fewest reps in the bench press at 11. Jerome didn’t participate in the other drills at the combine.

While Indianapolis will knock Jerome back a few rounds in the draft, it still looks like he can play football at the next level. Maybe he’ll end up being a steal for somebody as a fifth or six-round pick? It was tough to see him struggle this mightily at the scouting combine.
