Dalvin Cook

Running Back, Florida State Seminoles

There is a good chance that the 2017 NFL Draft could have as many as three running backs going in the first-round. One of those guys is Florida State Seminoles running back Dalvin Cook. He did a little bit of everything to put together an impressive week in Indianapolis.

In a way, Cook feels like the safest of the three tailbacks potentially going in the first round. He has a great first step, explodes off tackle, and can factor in more than just the power running game. His combine has helped ensure that he will be going in the first 32 pick of the draft.

Cook ran a 4.49 40-yard dash, which was the seventh-fastest time at the combine among running backs. He also put up 22 reps at 225 pounds in the bench press, which was tied for fourth among running backs.

While he wasn’t great at the other parts of the combine, Cook demonstrated that he has elite straight-line speed and has a powerful upper body. NFL teams shouldn’t expect him to do a lot of change of direction stuff at the next level, but one cut and go is exactly why he’ll end up being a first-round pick.
