After dropping 39 points in the Spurs win over the Rockets, Kawhi Leonard was met with a random drug screening.

Kawhi Leonard hasn’t been human this season, and the NBA wanted to make sure that he was still one of us. According to Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com, right after Leonard dropped yet another MVP performance, this time on James Harden and the Houston Rockets, the San Antonio Spurs superstar was immediately met with “the cup.”

We all know what that cup means.

We have all been hit with the random drug test at one time or another in our work lives, and NBA players are no exception. The NBA’s rigorous drug policy calls for players to be tested randomly four times during the season and twice it the offseason. If you’re doing your homework, boys and girls, that’s six times a year that players are met with “the cup.”

So although it really came as no surprise to Leonard that he was met with a drug screening right after a huge game, it may have come as a surprise to those on the outside looking in that the league would hit (in my opinion) the league’s leading MVP candidate with a random drug test.

“Did he take something before the game?” Your inquisitive mind may have been wondering.

That question can be answered with a simple and emphatic no.

We’re talking about a star that hordes coupons and still drive his ’97 Chevy Tahoe that he, according to Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated, drove across the Inland Empire of SoCal — as a teenager.

So why would anyone believe that Leonard would be doping before a game? He doesn’t need any extra “juice,” he’s a naturally talented forward that has been blessed with God-given skills that few other players possess.

So while it was hilarious that Leonard was hit with a random drug test after shooting down the Rockets, it shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
