San Francisco 49ers free agency 2017: Top 5 targets
By James Dudko
4.Mike Glennon
Mike Glennon suddenly landing on the free-agent market could prove heaven sent for the 49ers. The 27-year-old has starter’s experience to go with the attributes Shanahan usually covets at the position.
Among those attributes, Glennon boasts a strong arm and underrated mobility. The latter is an essential trait for the moving-pocket scheme Shanahan calls, one where rollout passing is a key feature.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers certainly realized Glennon’s value, according to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole:
Glennon’s decision to test the market speaks volumes about not only his desire to start, but also his confidence in his own ability. It also means Glennon will be a wanted man once the bell sounds to start free agency on March 9.
Indeed, the Chicago Bears are already a potential suitor, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. However, the 49ers’ need is arguably greater than the Windy City franchise.
