3. The Los Angles Lakers win by 20

Remember when the Lakers beat the Warriors by 20 and everyone though they were a playoff team?

Look at the faces on the Golden State bench.

Klay Thompson is contemplating where he’s going to eat in 10 minutes, Kevin Durant is asking Steph Curry, “how come you didn’t get me the ball in the high post on every play?” Draymond Green is scanning the crowd looking for some DMs to slide into, Anderson Varejao is just happy to still be on team, and Steph doesn’t have an answer for Durant because he was too busy taking another 3-pointer. Then he looks up to the heavens and asks God, “why does this guy ask for the ball in the high post every single time?”

Things would get better for the Warriors, but this would be where Los Angeles would peak. They would tread water for a bit, moving from 3-3 to 10-10. Now they’re 19-44 and throwing around restraining orders.

The entire Lakers team should have been tested after this one. They held Golden State’s high-powered offense to 15 points in the fourth. I watched this game and still don’t know how they did it. Obviously, Steph and Klay combining to go 2-20 on 3-pointers helped, but the young Lakers had to be doing something right. Did they inflate the ball when the Warriors had possession? I don’t know how that’s possible, but I’d believe it. Was this Steve Kerr’s way of thanking Luke Walton? I feel like I’m just scratching the surface here.

Not only should the Lakers have been tested after this game, but there should have been a full blown investigation launched. There’s no way Roger Goodell would let this slide. When people ask, “what was the most shocking thing that happened in the 2016-2017 NBA season?” My answer will immediately be “The Lakers beating the Warriors by 20.”
