John Ross

WR, Washington

Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles have to be happy with the direction the franchise is moving in. Not only did they swing a deal prior to last April’s draft to get Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall, but they made a move during the preseason to secure a first round pick in 2017. The team had to part ways with Sam Bradford to get the pick from the Minnesota Vikings, but the move cleared the way for Wentz to start 16 games as a rookie in 2016.

As the Eagles head into the offseason, they have to be thinking about bringing in weapons to surround Wentz with. Jordan Matthews is a decent player at the wide receiver position, but he is definitely not a true WR1. The Eagles have the luxury of bringing in a play-maker at the wideout position in this draft, and John Ross put on quite a show at the combine.

Ross set the combine record for the lowest 40-yard dash, as he broke Chris Johnson’s record of 4.24 with a 4.22 mark of his own. The time turned plenty of heads in Indianapolis, but those who covered the Pac-12 this past season, know the kind of breakaway speed he has. He would be a perfect fit in the Eagles plans for next season, giving Wentz the kind of player he is going to need if he is going to take the next step in his development.
