O.J. Howard

TE, Alabama

The Houston Texans went out and spent a ton of money on Brock Osweiler this past offseason, inking the signal-caller to a $72 million contract. While the defense ranked as the best in the NFL, Osweiler made sure the offense was far from it, and the team has to be thinking a change is in order at the quarterback position. The Texans also brought in Lamar Miller this past offseason, and he played very well at running back, helping the team move the ball when they were getting nothing from their quarterback.

The money has been spent on Osweiler, so the odds are he will be back under center for the Texans next season. In order for Houston to continue to be a playoff team, they are going to have to rely on their defense, which was the blueprint at Osweiler’s former employer, the Denver Broncos. Houston gets J.J. Watt back next season, which should make their defense even better, but a pass catching tight end must be brought in to help the offense.

O.J. Howard was not used much during his time at Alabama, but he has all the skills to be an elite tight end in the NFL. He has tremendous speed for a guy his size, and his hands are some of the best at his position in college football. Howard played big in big games for the Crimson Tide, and with how much Osweiler likes to check down, he could play a huge role if he lands in Houston next season.
