2017 NFL Mock Draft: Mitchell Trubisky to 49ers
By Brad Weiss
The Legion of Boom has led the Seattle Seahawks to two Super Bowl appearances in the last four years, though they do need to start injecting some youth into the unit. The Seahawks had their doors blown off by the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round in the playoffs, as they looked lost without safety Earl Thomas in the lineup. Thomas is expected to be back with the team next season, and with a healthy Richard Sherman returning, the Seahawks should once again be led by their defense.
The issue with Sherman this past postseason was that he was playing with a hurt MCL, which hindered the kind of impact he usually has on the game. Still, it is clear that the Seahawks need to bring in some reinforcements in the secondary, and Teez Tabor of Florida is one of the best corners in this draft. He has had his share of incidents off the field during his time with the Gators, but that should not keep him from being picked in the first round.
Russell Wilson is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC, and while the Seahawks do have some deficiencies at running back, they could fix that need in the second round. The defense has led the team over the past four seasons, so they need to continue that blueprint this offseason. Seattle should be back in the playoffs next season, and with added depth in the secondary, they likely won’t be shredded like they were against Aaron Rodgers and company.
