2017 NFL Mock Draft: Mitchell Trubisky to 49ers
By Brad Weiss
The Pittsburgh Steelers made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game in 2016, as Ben Roethlisberger and company put together another solid season. The Steelers looked horrible in said AFC Championship Game, as Tom Brady and the New England Patriots ran all over them. They need to make some serious upgrades to their defense, and April’s NFL Draft is a good place to start.
Pittsburgh locked up star linebacker James Harrison to a new two-year deal, but he is definitely up there in age at this point. While he keeps himself in some of the best shape of any player in the league, the team has to start looking at who will be the long-term replacement for him. Charles Harris of Missouri looks to be cut out of the same mold as Harrison, and would look mighty good in the Yellow and Black of the Steelers.
Harris played defensive end at Missouri, but he could certainly move to outside linebacker at the next level. If the Steelers do decide to draft him, he would have the luxury of learning how to play in the NFL from one of the better players of the past decade at linebacker. Harrison’s impact on the Steelers cannot only be measured on the field, and Harris would have the opportunity to see what it takes to be an elite player at the highest level of football.
