Malik Hooker

S, Ohio State

The Chargers made the move to Los Angeles this past offseason, saying goodbye to San Diego, which was their home for over 50 years. As the Bolts turn to the next chapter in their franchise history, they cannot afford to take a step back in their first season in La La Land. The Chargers head to Los Angeles with some very talented pieces in place, and picking No. 7 in April, they could add a key piece to their secondary.

Malik Hooker is very close to being the best safety in this draft, and had it not been for Jamal Adams, he would definitely be the first player off the board at his position. Hooker is coming off two surgeries this offseason, one for a sports hernia and one for a torn labrum, but that should not keep him from getting selected in teh first ten picks. The Chargers have not had a good safety since Eric Weddle was patrolling their defensive secondary, but all of that could end this April.

Hooker is going to be a standout player, and he possesses the kind of intensity you need to play the safety position. He is very good in pass coverage, though it is his willingness to come up and make the big hits that stands him apart from other players in this draft. Los Angeles has a nice nucleus on defense, and adding one or two more pieces could see them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
