The San Francisco 49ers have been a team in disarray since the firing of Jim Harbaugh but it looks like new head coach Kyle Shanahan has things moving the right direction.

It was announced today by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network that the 49ers have signed wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. This is a move that will help the wide receiver core in San Francisco and he will be a nice match with the other signings they have made today.

Coming out of Texas, Goodwin was looked at as a quick wide receiver who could do some damage on the outside. He was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Goodwin was a speedster for the Bills who had his best season in 2016. He caught 29 passes for 431 yards and 3 touchdowns. He spent four years with the Bills and will finally get a chance to play in a productive offensive for the first time in his career.

This wasn’t the 49ers only signing today, though. In addition to Goodwin on the outside, they also added wide receiver Pierre Garcon to go alongside him as well. They also needed some better quarterback play so the 49ers went out and signed Brian Hoyer to compete for the starting quarterback job.

It is fair to say that the 49ers want to be relevant again and they are loading up on the offensive side of the ball. San Francisco was dead last in the NFL last season in passing yards per game. They only averaged 181.9 yards through the air.

This number was awful and Shanahan is going to try and fix that. He did wonders in Atlanta and now he is trying to replicate that winning formula in San Francisco. Let’s see if the moves can help this struggling franchise.
