3. Jeffery will take pressure off Jordan Matthews

Matthews will no longer have to feel the constant pressure of receiving double coverage. While Matthews has been a relatively solid receiver, he is not equipped to be a No. 1 weapon in a high-flying offense. However, the presence of someone like Jeffery will make him a fantastic No. 2 option. The former Vanderbilt receiver has shown flashes of star upside early in his career. Matthews finished with 85 catches, 997 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in the 2015 season.

The 24-year-old receiver was able to slip under the radar earlier in his career, but being the unquestioned top weapon in the Eagles offense caused him to be neutralized more often. However, the signings of Jeffery and Torrey Smith will only help him get open. Smith is also capable of being a deep threat, which would allow Matthews to line up in slot formations.

Jeffery will easily draw the most attention from defenders, though. He is sure to draw most of the double coverage from opposing defenses due to his reputation and previous production. If Matthews can receive single coverage more often, he will thrive even more in a rising Eagles offense. It remains to be seen if this can be a long-term fixture, though, since Jeffery is only signing a one-year deal.
