A.J. Bouye: 5 reasons the Jaguars are a perfect fit
3. The secondary is complete
When 2017 kicks off, the Jaguars will have four starters in their secondary that were not on the roster in 2015. The 2015 defense needed a major kick-start, and the Jaguars did just that by finishing up the redecorations with Bouye.
First, the team added Tashaun Gipson from the Browns. Next was Ramsey in the draft. The two stuck as starters and will be with the team moving forward. This offseason, their first move was to add Barry Church to complete the safety group. Now, they add Bouye, have two versatile cornerbacks, and an overall versatile secondary.
They may be in the market for a slot cornerback, but this secondary has been revamped overnight. The Jaguars come into 2017 with sure tacklers at every spot in the secondary. Both of their safeties can play centerfield, and both of their cornerbacks have top end speed.
The Jaguars in 2015 were a team that was far from complete. Now they enter 2017 with at least one unit that they can say is complete, and is strong moving forward. Combined with Church, the A.J. Bouye signing is a huge upgrade and could be the start of a great defense forming in Jacksonville.
