1. Jaguars still have cap space

While the Jaguars always get deemed the winners of the offseason, it is because every year they come into free agency with money. As it stands right now, the Jaguars have about $66 million to spend this offseason. If they are going to spend that much money, they may as well go for the big fish?

As mentioned, this team may have missed on some, but Malik Jackson and Tashaun Gipson may be sticking as big signings last offseason. They have the resources to continue to add to a core that they are forming, so it is almost a no-brainer.

Bouye fits what the Jaguars want to do. They need to win with defense, and he brings that. They need versatility and athleticism, he brings that as well. They needed a cornerback to pair up with the young and emerging Jalen Ramsey, and he brings that. And of course, they needed a young player who has yet to hit his prime but still has the hunger and ability to earn another big contract. Yes, Bouye checks all the boxes.

To add one of the biggest fish on the market, and to have him be the perfect fit is great. To look back and realize that they can still spend on their own, or other positions of need make the signing a great decision.
