Jay Cutler: 5 free agent destinations for former Bears quarterback
By John Buhler
The 2016 Cleveland Browns were the worst team in football last year at 1-15. They beat only the San Diego Chargers on Christmas Eve. This team played really hard all last season but didn’t have the necessary talent to compete with most NFL teams for four quarters.
Cutler to the Browns isn’t the worst idea in the world. It’s not like the Browns can be any worse than they were last year. Cutler has the arm strength to win in a northern climate like Cleveland. The Browns organization continues to overlook that key part in evaluating potential starting quarterbacks for whatever reason.
The AFC North isn’t what it once was. Cleveland isn’t as far away from contending in the weak AFC North as people believe. Pittsburgh will only be good if they have Ben Roethlisberger. Cincinnati has limitations with Andy Dalton. Can Joe Flacco get Baltimore back to the Super Bowl?
Cutler would thrive in Hue Jackson’s passing game. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and christen Cutler as the next Bernie Kosar or Brian Sipe, but he could help the Browns get to 6-10 this fall on arm talent alone. This is assuming some of this young talent on the Browns roster pops in its second or third year in the league.
