Josh Jackson

SF, Kansas

The Phoenix Suns would be extremely pleased if Kansas freshman Josh Jackson fell into their lap for the third pick. The 6-foot-7 wing brings something on both ends of the floor and fills a need for the Suns.

Jackson’s offensive game is intriguing because of his passing ability. He dribbles with his head up and is always looking for the dump off or a kick out to a shooter along the perimeter. Among wings, he’s the best passer in the draft. Jackson can also score off the bounce. He gets to the rim well and can finish creatively once he’s among the trees. Over the last months, he’s also become a much better jump shooter in catch-and-shoot situations that don’t disrupt his form as much. Off the dribble and at the foul line, Jackson still struggles.

The 19-year old should also be a multi-position defender at the next level. He needs to add some strength to his frame, but he should be able to guard two through four. Jackson shows nice anticipation jumping into passing lanes to help create turnovers and because of his athleticism, he’s been a good weak side rim protector for the Jayhawks.
