Jonathan Isaac

SF/PF, Florida St.

This is the first of two top 10 picks for the Sacramento Kings. They acquired this one from the New Orleans Pelicans in a deal for DeMarcus Cousins.

Florida State’s Jonathan Isaac is an elite 3-and-D talent who could develop into a bit more of a creator with time and as his body grows into its lanky frame. The 6-foot-11 combo forward could add more explosiveness once he adds strength. For now, though, Isaac is most comfortable on offense away from the ball. He gets plenty of offensive rebounds and scores well on cuts to the basket. Isaac’s 3-point shooting is exhibit because few defenders will be able to challenge his jumper given his size. This season, he’s shooting 36.7 percent from deep despite a low number of attempts. His free throw shooting bolsters the chances that he’ll be a good outside shooter.

On defense, Isaac has been great at creating events. He’s averaging 2.3 blocks and 1.8 steals per 40 minutes, which puts him near the top of “stocks” (steals + blocks) produced by wings in this class. Isaac is also a good college rebounder, but again will likely need to add strength for that skill to translate in the NBA.

Isaac’s top end is excellent if he can learn to harness his dribble and become more comfortable off the bounce, but for now, he’s an elite role-player who shoots 3s and guards well.
