Tyus Bowser

Linebacker, Houston

The question with Bowser is what position does he play. That would make him a perfect fit for this Jets defense. Bowser comes in a 6-foot-3 and 244 pounds, but plays mostly like a big outside linebacker in a 4-3 base look. Still, he can play with his hand down off of the edge, he can drop into coverage, and his fast, and fluid when finding the football.

The Jets have a big question coming with Sheldon Richardson. Bowser would not necessarily ease that pain, but he would give the defense an ability to show more versatile looks, similar to how they do with Richardson. They can line him beside Darron Lee, and they can line him up beside Muhammad Wilkerson.

The Jets really could use help at both linebacker areas. Now, in 2017, a seven-man front of Bowser, Richardson, Wilkerson. Leonard Williams, Darron Lee, David Harris and Jordan Jenkins. They could line up in a 3-4 or a 4-3 and confuse a lot of quarterbacks.

Bowser is still a bit too small to come into the NFL and play off of the edge. He is pretty quick, but his ability as a pass defender will be challenged early on in his pro career. While he can bring versatility, it will also be important not to misuse, and consistently keep him in one position.
