2017 NFL Draft: Baltimore Ravens 7-round mock
The Baltimore Ravens really miss Anquan Boldin. He’s the kind of receiver that doesn’t have the best speed or quickness, but he’s athletic and physical. Juju Smith-Schuster has a similar vice grip and frame. He’s listed at 6’1″ and 215 pounds. The Ravens rode an interesting trio of wide receivers to their second Super Bowl. Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones were the speedy options and created mismatches. However, arguably the most valuable of the trio was Boldin. He was the guy who often took advantage of the mismatches and was one of Joe Flacco’s favorite targets.
CBS Sports, as of Sunday March 5, has him ranked at number 73. Smith-Schuster is someone the Baltimore Ravens might be willing to trade up to get. They rarely do it, but it’s hard to look at him without thinking of Boldin. Smith-Schuster is also a very solid blocker, something Baltimore treasures in receivers.
At the 99th pick, the Ravens should gamble on someone. After all, it’s a compensation pick. The Baltimore Ravens need to add some safety depth, especially if they cut ties with Ladarius Webb. Marcus Maye has injury concerns, but he’s very talented. He could jump in as a starter from week one. With these picks done, Baltimore will have addressed most of their offseason needs. The rest of them can be filled via free agency.
