Los Angeles Rams

NFC, West

Are we sure the Los Angeles Rams know what they’re doing this offseason? They used the franchise tag for the second year in a row that wasn’t going to command an offer that high in free agency in Trumaine Johnson. Now the Rams are trying to trade Johnson, even though he is the best player in Wade Phillips’ secondary.

The Rams don’t believe in mermaids any more, as they have traded the one-of-a-kind defensive linemen William Hayes to the Miami Dolphins. Maybe he’ll see some mermaids in South Beach? They also released a popular tight end in Lance Kendricks. He’ll be a good player now that he’ll have a good quarterback in Green Bay.

Adding the elder Andrew Whitworth at left tackle is very much a boom-or-bust signing. He’s excellent and has been for the Bengals the last few years. The problem is what if he rapidly decays?

Los Angeles also overspent to bring former USC Trojans star wide receiver Robert Woods back home. Woods will get to make plays once again at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. However, he offers the same skill set of another overpaid wideout already in Los Angeles in Tavon Austin. Bubble screens galore for new head coach Sean McVay.

Overall, the Rams weren’t very good in the last decade in St. Louis. The move to Los Angeles last year made their dysfunction all the more prominent. Look for Los Angeles to challenge San Francisco for the worst team in the NFC this season. Keep in mind that the 49ers’ only two wins last year can against the toothless Rams offense.
